In an experiment, two impulses in a stretched string whose centres are initially 8 cm apart are moving towards each other as shown in figure. The speed of each impulse is 2 cm/s. After 2 seconds, the total energy of the pulse will be :

a) Partially kinetic & potential

b) Purely potential

c) Purely kinetic

d) Zero

kinetic energy
it has speed of 2 cm/ s
and the distance is 8 cm
so, after 2 s ,it is in motion that's why it posses kinetic energy

The correct answer is -
c) purely kinetic energy
___________________________

REASON -
kinetic energy is the energy possesed by a body by virtue of its motion. any body having mass and velocity is said to posses kinetic energy.
in this case the pulse is in motion . it moves with a speed of 2 cm/s . therefore it posses kinetic energy.
