In an isoceles triangle the length of each of the equal sides is 2 more than the length of the base.if the ratio of the base to the perimeter of the triangle is 2:7.find the dimensions of the isoceles triangle

l = 2+b. (1)

perimeter (p) = l+l+b = 2l +b

b/p = (2/7) = b/(2l+b)

i.e 4l+2b = 7b

4l = 5b. (2)

substitute value of b in (1)

l = 2 + (4/5) *l

l/5 = 2

l = 10 units

b= l-2 = 8 units
