In an isosceles right triangle two sides are equal
Given square of hypotenuse = 98 cm²
Let the sides be xcm [as they are equal, let both the sides be xcm]
We know that by pythagoras theorem
side² + side² = hyp²
⇒ x² + x² = 98
⇒ 2x² = 98
⇒ x² = 98/2
⇒ x² = 49
⇒ x = √49
∴ x = 7
∴The length of the congruent sides are 7cm and 7cm

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

In an isosceles right triangle two sides are equal

Given square of hypotenuse = 98 cm²

Let the sides be xcm [as they are equal, let both the sides be xcm]

We know that by pythagoras theorem

side² + side² = hyp²

⇒ x² + x² = 98

⇒ 2x² = 98

⇒ x² = 98/2

⇒ x² = 49

⇒ x = √49

∴ x = 7

∴The length of the congruent sides are 7cm and 7cm
