Given : In an office, the number of women wearing red sarees is twice that of those wearing blue sarees and the number of women wearing green sarees is 1 / 3 of the number of women wearing blue sarees.

the total number of women is 125 out of which 25 wore mixed coloured

sarees,

To Find : Percentage of women wore blue sarees

Solution:

Blue sarees  =  3B

Red sarees  = 6B          ( 2 * 3B)

Green  sarees  = B      ( 1/3  * 3B)

Mixed colour sarees = 25

Total = 125

Total = 3B + 6B + B + 25  = 125

=> 10B = 100

=> B = 10

Blue sarees  =  3B  = 30

Total = 125

percentage of women wore blue sarees = (30/125) * 100

= 24  %

Step-by-step explanation:

Given In an office, the number of women wearing red sarees is twice that of those wearing blue sarees and the number of women wearing green sarees is 1/3 of the number of women wearing blue sarees. If the total number of women is 125 out of which 25 wore mixed coloured sarees, then what percentage of women wore blue sarees?

  • So there are women who were wearing 3 types of sarees red, blue and green.
  • So number of women wearing blue sarees will be 3S
  • According to the question we have
  • So number of women wearing red sarees will be 2 x 3S
  •                                                        = 6S
  • So number of women wearing green sarees will be 1/3 x 3S
  •                                                                            = S
  • Total number of women = 125
  • Number of women wearing mixed coloured sarees is 25
  • Now 3S + 6S + S + 25 = 125
  •            10 S + 25 = 125
  •              10 S = 125 – 25
  •             10 S = 100
  •     Or S = 10
  • Number of women wearing blue sarees is 3S
  •                                                                        = 3 x 10
  •                                                                        = 30
  • Therefore percentage of women wearing blue sarees will be
  •                            Number of women wearing blue sarees /total women x 100
  •                                                                                           30 / 125 x 100
  •                                                                                                        = 24%
