Answer : Rotor speed related to stator structure is 960 rpm

              Frequency of rotor current at standstill  is 2Hz

Given : frequency f = 50 Hz

            No. of poles p = 6

            Slip s = 0.04

To find : Rotor speed relative to stator structure and frequency of rotor current at standstill

Explanation : In a 3 phase induction motor the stator is stationary and rotor is rotating.

Slip of induction motor is given by

             s = (Ns - Nr )/Ns

 And   Ns = 120f/p

Where  Ns is the synchronous speed,Nr is the rotor speed, f is the frequency and p is the no. of poles

Substituting the values

Ns = (120*50)/6

    =1000 rpm

Nr = (1-s)Ns

    = (1-0.04)1000

    =960 rpm

Speed of stator is zero as stator is stationary.

Rotor speed relative to stator structure is 960 - 0 = 960 rpm

Frequency of rotor current at standstill fr = s*f

                 = 0.04 * 50

                 = 2 Hz
