Answer:

The Lottery was published in 1948, this book can be published just after WW2.  Still it remains to this day one of the enduring as well as affecting American works. Of course the lottery also tells the story of a farming community that also holds a ritualistic lottery among its citizens in every year. Text initially presents audience with a close knit community to participate in social events.
