Mandela's acceptance speech was to advocate for destroying the apartheid in South Africa. Mandela was speaking from first-hand experience, having had grown up in South Africa, he witnessed the segregation and was forced to endure it. He was upset with the injustice black people would face on a daily basis, without being able to reach out and change things. Mandela's acceptance speech gave him an outlet to speak out on the issues in Africa, and actually be heard. His words educated people on the apartheid and everything it entailed, while also demanding that the South African government change it's ways.
