On 23 June 1757, the Battle of Plassey was fought between the forces of Siraj Ud Daulah, and his French support troops and the troops of the British East India Company, led by Robert Clive. This event was a part of the Seven Years War.

In battle of Plassey, the Nawab of Bengal fought with the British (or the English East India Company).

The Nawab of Bengal, Siraj-ud-daulah sent Mir Zafar to fight with the British but because of the disloyalty and mistrust of Mir Zafar towards Siraj-ud-daulah, the battle was never fought.

This marked the first victory of the British on Indians.
