Parent Ego is the one I most relate to out of Berne's ego states.
- All three ego states are present in people. According to each situation one adapts and displays a particular ego.
- Child ego is more like a refuge or a coping mechanism that may or may not have a basis in rationale but helps to keep you going.
- Parent ego is one which a set of beliefs and rules that have been inculcated in you from your upbringing.
- Adult ego is blurry mix of the above two egos and the external environment.
- An example of where I displayed a Parent Ego state is when I saw a hurt child at the park and used words like "Don't worry it'll go away". " Once you stop crying you'll see it's a small cut". These are words that were used on me as a child.
