In between two hills of heights 100m and 92m,there is valley of breadth 16m.If a vehicle jumps from the first hill ti the second one, the maximum velocity of the vehicle is (assume g=9m/s2)​

The distance between the two hills= 100− 92 = 8 m.

and therefore, horizontal distance to be covered=16 m.

let the velocity =u ,

Therefore the angle of projection of jump is 45° from the horizontal plane.

Thus

8 = u sin45° t − 1/2gt^2    

=8 = u/√2 t − 1/2gt^2......(i)

16 = ucos45°×t

=> 16 = u/√2×t      

=>t = 16√2/u ...(ii).

putting the value of t in  (i), we get,

8 = 16 −9×256/u^2  

=> u^2 = 9×256/ 8    

=> u^2 = 9×16  

=> u = 12 m/s
