External fertilisation is seen in many animals such as frogs and fish.


In this kind of propagation, the eggs of the female are fertilised by the male outside the body of the woman.


This has remarkable advantages as well as drawbacks.

One benefit is that it leads to a large number of offspring being formed and so greater chances of genetic continuity.

One disadvantage is that it requires a lot of energy.
