Some diseases like ALS can cause Golgi fragmentation in motor neurons (article in the link below).
Golgi fragmentation in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, an overview of possible triggers and consequences.
The normal function of Golgi apparatus is to process the proteins usually ferried from nucleus and ER by post-translational modifications like glycosylation. Then, the proteins are tagged, recognized, and carried by various means of cellular trafficking, like endosomes or secretory vesicles. Problems with the Golgi apparatus can lead to accumulation and mislocalization of unwanted proteins in the cytosol and nucleus due to impaired trafficking.

When Golgi apparatus is removed from the cell,the modification of lipid and protein molecules synthesized by the cell is stopped. These modifications lead to the formation of functional forms of enzymes, hormones and other intracellular and extracellular secretions.
