Answer:

Refractive index of prism with prism angle 60° is 1.5

Explanation:

Angle of deviation in a prism is  the  shift in angle if incident light beam on the prism . The relation between angle of prism, angle of deviation and refractive index of prism is given by following relation.

         \mu = \frac{sin (\frac{\alpha+ A}{2}) }{sin( \frac{A}{2} )} \\\\\mu = refractive\ \ index \ \ of \ \ prism \\ \alpha = angle\ \ of \ \ deviation\\A= angle \ \ of \ \ prism\\

Given : A= 60°  α=37.2°

so,

  \mu = \frac{sin(\frac{37.2+ 60}{2} )}{sin(\frac{60}{2} )} \\\\\mu = \frac{sin(48.6)}{sin(30)} \\\\\mu = \frac{0.75}{0.5} \\\\\mu = 1.5\\

Hence refractive index of prism is 1.5
