Synergid is a part of egg apparatus of haploid embryo sac, and thus is haploid in nature. Nucellus, on the other hand, is diploid
sporophytic tissue. If, by the means of polyembryony (formation of more than one embryos in an ovule) and apomixis (omission of
fertilization step), two embryos are formed that is one from synergid and the other from nucellus, then the synergid embryo will be haploid and
the nucellar embryo will be diploid.
