In case of refraction of light through a rectangular glass slab, explain why (a) the emergent ray is parallel to the direction of the incident ray (b) the emergent ray is shifted sideward slightly?

when light rays travel from one optical denser medium to rarer medium, the light rays refract away from the normal. that is the angle of emergance is high as compared to the angle of incidence and refraction.
