this is because of the genes located on the chromosomes
we get 23 chromosomes from the fatger 23 from the mother
so totally we have 46 chromosomes
eg. a baby might have blue eyes either derived from its father or its mother
this way genes keep on passing from generation to generation
this way we see similarities in newborn babies

Answer:
sexual reproduction involves the fussion of two types of gamets i.e., the male and the female gamets. The zygote formed contains a fusion of both the sperm nucleus and the the egg nucleus.Due to this, the new individual has charecteristics which are similar to both the parents while some charecters which are differeny from both the parents. Thus, the new individual formed from sexual reproduction inherits the charecters of both the parents. For example, if the father has black hair while mother has brown hair the changes are that their offspring may have either black or brown hair.
