In sexual reproduction, 2 different types of DNA, from both parents, mix to form one unique type of DNA. during fusion, certain characteristics are taken from the male parent and others from the female parent. thus, the new cell develops into a unique offspring which displays characteristics of both parents. e.g. a newborn may have the eyes of its mother but may display its fathers nose, etc.

In case of the sexual reproduction, new organisms are produced by the direct combinations of the male and the female gametes.
☆ During the process of the FERTILIZATION, sharing between the maternal and the paternal chromosomes takes place corresponding to which the foetus is formed.
● We know chromosomes contains the characters and when the pairs of the homologous chromosomes meets, a combinations of the mixed characters are formed in the forms of the new chromosomes which are transfered to the new once and thus it is the basis of the heridity and variations.
● Example -
In humans too the same process occurs. Thus we all usually resembles our parents due to the heredity. But in the same manner we are not exactly like them due to variations.
In case of the asexual reproduction there ia no direct meeting of the male and the female gametes as a result of which new once formed due to such reproduction do not varies.
Hence we can now say that the organisms produced by the sexual reproduction show some common characteristics and also varies in the same way.
