Where the same person is a customer and a supplier, his account appears in both the Debtors’ Ledger and Creditors’ Ledger. In normal circumstances, only one account is kept for such a person. But when the ledgers are maintained on self-balancing ledgers basis, two accounts should be operated for such a person. Then it is an appropriate case of set off.
