In CE configuration, if β = 100, leakage current ICEO = 150 μA. If the base current is 0.2 mA, calculate the value of IC, IE and α.

Explanation:

beta = Ic / Ie

alpha = beta / (1 - beta)

Ie = Ic + Ib

1. alpha = 100 /99

2. alpha = Ic / Ib

Ic = alpha x Ib

= 100/99 x 0.2 x 10 ^-3

3. Ie = Ic + Ib = Ic/ beta = 1/ 99 x 0.2 x.10^-3A

Answer:

Collector current, I_{C}=20mA, Emitter current, I_{E}=20.2mA,  Common base current amplification, \alpha = 0.99

Explanation:

Given in CE configuration,

                     current gain, \beta = 100

         leakage current I_{CEO}  = 150 \mu A

                  base current, I_{B} = 0.2 mA

Current gain, \beta =\frac{I_{C} }{I_{B}}\implies I_{C}=\beta \times I_{B}

Therefore, collector current, I_{C}=100 \times 0.2=20mA

Emitter current, I_{E}=I_{B}+I_{C}

                            =0.2+20=20.2mA

Common base current amplification,

                      \alpha = \frac{I_{C} }{I_{E}}

                          = \frac{20 }{20.2}=0.99
