Hey

Humans have discovered many new things.Electricity is one of them. It has many advantages but also disadvantages.
In a home circuit there is a live wire, a neutral wire and an additional ‘grounding wire’ which can be attached to outlets and other electrical devices and also securely connected to the ground at the breaker box. This ground wire is an additional path for electrical current to return safely to the ground without danger to anyone in the event of a short circuit.
The main features of grounding are:-
1)It protects against electrical overload
2)It helps in direct electricity throughout the system
3)Stabilises voltage
4)It prevents any damage and injury to you or the appliances - by diverting the current to the earth(which is a good conductor of electricity than the human body). So it will prevent unwanted short circuits, fire, physical injury and possibly death.

So grounding ensures the utmost safety from electric current.
