China is a communist country.

The very fabric of a democratic nation is free and fair elections where people have the universal franchisee to vote and have the choice among many political parties, as is the case with India.

But looking at China.

It has a single political party that contests the elctions and has been ruling for many years.2) People dont have the freedom of speech and expression. People are pounded heavily for any breach. Look for Tiannemen Sqaure Protests in China.Even Google searches dont show results of Chinese oppression in China by the government .So China, is far from a democracy. Thats y, India is the largest democracy in the world, even if population of China is 1.9 times that of India.......hope it may help u......#MB....plz mark as brainlest

Helding elections is not only criteria of democratic government. These are some other criteria that comes under democracy-
1.) Elected government is responsible for country's governance( not other like in dictatorship or military rule)
2.) Right to choose between parties or persons( this is the case of China where only one political party is actively participating in elections)
3.) Right to vote( universal adult sufferage have to be followed but in West Asia countries like Saudi Arabia women did not have voting rights)
4.) Free and fair elections
