In class 9 chapter if i were you , at Last , when the narrator was putting him in the cupboard , the intruder was carrying a pistol so he may fire him but why it not happen​

In the chapter, If I were You, the intruder had a pistol in his hand. But, when Gerard pushed him in the cupboard, he also snatched the pistol off his hand and shutting the cupboard, pointed it towards the cupboard for protection.
