Let number of correct answers and number of incorrect answers be x and y respectively.

Given that,

Total number of questions in class test 10.

Therefore,

x + y = 10............ eq(1)

Again, it’s given that

Each correct answer awarded 5 marks and for each incorrect answer have negative 2 marks.Neel scored 45 mark.

Therefore,

5x - 2y = 45 ............. eq(2)

Now, find the value of x from eq(1)

x + y = 10

⟶ x = 10 - y

And put the value of x in eq (2) for getting the value of y.

⟶ 5x - 2y = 45

⟶ 5 ( 10 - y) - 2y = 45

⟶ 50 - 5y - 2y = 45

⟶ 50 - 45 = 7y

⟶ y = 5/7

Hence,

number of incorrect answers = 5/7
