The Durgapur Steel Plant was set up in collaboration with Great Britain.

It was set up in 1956 with assistance from a group based in Great Britain. The Durgapur Steel Plant is one of the steel plants under the Steel Authority of India (SAIL) and it is in Durgapur in West Bengal. It is located by the banks of River Damodar, about 160 kilometres from Kolkata. Spread over an area of 40 square kilometres, it is one of the modern steel plants in India.
