Answer:

Explanation:

Element  one = X (Given)

Element two = Y (Given)

Atomic weight of X = 24 (Given)

Atomic weight of Y = 16 (Given)

Percentage of element X = 76 (Given)

Percentage of element Y = 24 (Given)

Thus,

Mass ratio of X =  76/75 = 1.01

Mass ratio of Y =   24/16 = 1.5

Atomic ratio of X = 1.01/1.01 = 1x 2 = 2

Atomic ratio of Y = 1.5/1.01 = 1.48≈1.5 x 2 = 3

Therefore, the empirical formula will be - X₂Y₃.
