Compulsory voting is against the tenets of democracy and freedom. A person who does not wish to exercise his franchise, is actually losing a chance to select a particular government. But this does not mean, forcing a person to vote will address the situation. By forcing, he/she may cast their ballots at random, upsetting a true and balanced judgement on the whole.

hunter in "Compulsory voting: An idea whose time has come" says that the united states of american should make an effort to study the election of the other countries who have already implemented the feature of compulsory voting.

he says this because America itself needs to succeed in compulsory voting.

A number of people tend to not vote which is detrimental for the country.
