In context to menstrual cycle, around 40 ml of blood is discarded in a menstrual cycle is wrong statement.

Usually during menstrual bleeding time of four to six days total amount of blood discarded is about 10 - 35 ml.

This discard contains blood, endometrial tissue and fibrin.

It does not contain anticoagulants so can easily coagulated.

If any disturbance occurs by using hormonal tablets lot of side effects occur like over bleeding, stomach cramps etc.
