Answer:

Compounds : Diamond, Graphite, Coal, Carbon Dioxide, etc.

Property : Catenation

Explanation:

Catenation is the property of self - linking of its own atoms by covalent bonding to form linear, branched or ringed chains.

Carbin has very high catenation and its compound are large and stable due to its small size. Thus carbon forms such a vast varieties of compounds which are seperated as organic chemistry. Also carbon is terta- valent which also makes it forms compound by covalent bonding.

For e.g.:

i_ Diamond is formed by covalent bonding in 3D symmetrical shape which is hard and rigid .

ii_ Graphite is formed by covalent bonding to forms a layered structure which is slippery and good conductor of electricity.

iii_ Buckminster Fullerene : It is also called as C - 60 because it is formed by 60 carbon atoms linked in a ring shape.

iv _ Carbon dioxide is formed by covalent bonding where carbon shares its two atoms with oxygen and oxygen shares its four atoms with carbon so that both can achieve the nearest noble gas configuration i.e. electronic configuration of neon( 2,8) .

And thus a stable compound of carbon dioxide is formed.
