Given :  ΔDEP, DO= 7 cm, EM= 8 cm and EP= 4 cm.

DO  is perpendicular to EP and  EM is perpendicular to DP.

To  Find :  DP

Solution:

Area of Triangle = (1/2) * base * Height

ΔDEP,

Base EP =  4 cm

Altitude / height  = DO  = 7 cm

Area of ΔDEP = (1/2) * 4 * 7   cm²

ΔDEP,

Base DP =  x  cm

Altitude / height  = EM  = 8 cm

Area of ΔDEP = (1/2) * x * 8   cm²

Equate Areas:

(1/2) * x * 8   =  (1/2) * 4 * 7

=> x =  7/2

=> x = 3.5 cm
