In Diwali, before lighting of the diyas why should those be washed?

Bcoz.. When we don't wash diyas..It soaks all the oil... So generally, diyas are washed so, it would not soak oil..

To celebrate houses are decorated with beautiful lights.

Before lighting of diyas it is washed to clean the dirt and to check if there any pores to prevent leekage of oil.
