In domestic electric circuit, the appliances are connected in parallel as it will provide the same voltage to every appliance and also if one of the appliance stops working then others won't stop.
The fuse wire and grounding is essential to protect the user from deadly electric shocks as fuse wire melts if excessive current is passed on from it and grounding pass the excessive current to the ground.
