In dry weather , people walking on nylon carpets may get a shock if they touch a radiator or a metal door knob. Why?

It's all due to the production of static charges which produce between two bodies when they are rubbed or in contact.

Because of static electricity discharge. Nylon is a good electrical insulator, thus the static electric which accrues at your body does not flow to ground. When you touch a metal thing which is connected to the ground, difference of electrical charge makes a static electric discharge. this makes you feel like shocked.
