Given:- aqueous tension= 15mm mass of organic compound= 0.80g 60 ml nitrogen composition.

To find:- The % composition of nitrogen in the compound

Solution:

To obtain the pressure of nitrogen subtract aqueous tension 15mm from 715mm pressure

P = 700 mm of Hg.

Volume of nitrogen at stp is give by:-

= V*P*273/T*760

= 60*700*273/300*760

= 50.29 mL

Now calculate the percent of nitrogen,

= vol of n2 at stp * 28 *100/wt *22400

= 50.29 * 28 *100 / 0.80 *22400

= 7.86%

Therefore the percentage is 7.86%
