In each generation what was the causes for the increase of the speed and power or memory

in each generation better technology was introduced.. from vaccum bulb to transistor.... cpu power increased by better processor architecture and decrease in size.. transistor quantity increased in a processor.... due to small size power efficiency also increased...
processor became 64 bit from 4 bit......

memory size increased by the same reason of transistors
