numbers, replaces by the
smallest number to make it

(1) 27*4​

We have to use the concept given below for this question.

If and only if the sum of the digits of an integer is divisible by 3, then so will be the integer.

Here I'm taking a letter  x  instead of the asterisk.

Thus the integer will be  -  27x4.

If  27x4  should be exactly divisible by 3, then so will be  2 + 7 + x + 4 = x + 13.

Keep in mind that  x  is always a non-negative integer.

Since 13 is added with  x,  and since we are going to find the 'smallest possible value of x',  then we can say that,

12 < x + 13

because 12 is a multiple of 3 and 12 < 13.

And also, from this too, we get a clear idea that,

x + 13 = 15

which implies,

x = 2

Hence 2 is the answer.
