Answer. Nichrome, which is an alloy of 80% nickel and 20% chromium is used effectively as a heating device in iron, electric heater, boiler, toaster etc. it is used so because it has relatively high resistance and forms an adherent layer of chromium oxide when it is heated for the first time.
