In electrolysis of water why is the volume of gas collected over one electrofe double that of gas collected over the other electrode

On electrolysis, water decomposes to give H2 and O2 since one molecule of water consists two atoms of H2 and one atom of O2. The amount of hydrogen collect it will be double of oxygen. The gas collected more is hydrogen.
