in 1 molecule of water hydrogen and oxygen are in the ratio of 2:1 so because of this gas collected at one electrode is double of that other electrode

During electrolysis of water , hydrogen is collected at the cathode and oxygen is collected at anode.

The volume of hydrogen is double because water is made up of 2 parts of hydrogen and 1 part of oxygen.
