In electrolytic refining, why the electrolyte is only of the metal to be refined???
Answer only if you know it. its urgent.....

Because if electrolyte of other solution is used then that metal will be deposited on the electrode and we won't get the desired metal

ankitarya2301: the metal then is deposited on the cathode
ankitarya2301: if the metal on cathode is different then what will get may be an alloy
