mass no. of element X is 16 ,number of electrons is 8 because electrons =protons ,neutrons is mass no=No. of electrons + No. of neutrons then mass no.- no. of electrons=no.of neutrons then 16-8 =8=no.of neutrons

Given that,

Element is represented as ^{16}_8X

To find,

1. The number of electrons in element X.

2. Mass number of element X.

3. The number of neutrons in element X.

Solution,

Atomic number of the element is 8.

Atomic mass of element is 16.

We know that,

No. of protons = Atomic no and also no. of electrons = no. of protons

1. Number of electrons in element X is 6.

2. Atomic mass of element is 16.

3. No. of neutrons = Atomic mass - Atomic no

N = 16 - 8

N = 8
