in exam no of students passed and failed = 3:1 , 8 more appeared for the exam and 5 less passed the ratio become 2:1 find total no of students appred for exam.​

let the number of passed candidates be 3x

and the number of failed candidates be x.

total no. of students = 4x

no.of candidates = 4x+8

no. of students passed = 3x - 5

no. of candidates who failed.

4x+8-(3x-5)

= x + 13

total no. of students.(new ratio = 2:1)

(3x-5) = 2(x + 13)

x = 31

total no.of students = 4 × 31

124 students.
