in extremely cold weather family burnt coal in the room in night with doors and windows closed . After sometime they felt suffocated and immediately opens the doors . Explain what happened.

As the coal was burning it was using up the oxygen in the room. Due to which the oxygen supply went less and we know that when coal is burnt without proper availability of oxygen it produces carbon monoxide which led to suffocation as the room was also locked. So, they opened the doors.
