In Faizabad, the revolt of 1857 was driven by Maulvi Ahmadullah Shah Faizabadi.

Maulvi Ahmadullah, born in 1820 in the second decade of the nineteenth century as Saiyid Ahmad Ali Khan pseudonym Ziauddin, titled Dilawar Jang, he was a child of Nawab Muhammad Ali Khan of Chinapattan (Madras).

He got, as a prince, the best training of the time. He finished his studies in established languages and conventional Islamic sciences and furthermore got broad preparing in the specialty of Warfare.
