Given,

Library = 3 miles due west of the post office

zoo = 5 miles due north of the library

To find,

Distance from the post office to the zoo.

Solution,

We can easily solve this numerical problem by following the given steps.

Now,

Let's take the location of Fayetteville to be the centre A, library be B and zoo to be C.

Then,

AB = 3 miles

BC = 5 miles

Using Pythagoras theorem,

AC² = AB² + BC²

AC² = 3² + 5²

AC² = 9 + 25

AC² = 34

AC = √34

AC = 5.83 miles

Hence, the distance from the post office to the zoo will be 5.83 miles.
