In fcc iron, carbon atoms are located at octahedral sites at the center of edge of each unit cell and at the center of unit cell. In bcc iron , carbon atoms are at tetrahedral sites. The lattice parameter of fcc and bcc iron are 0.3571 nm and 0.2866 nm respectively. Radius of carbon is 0.071 nm. Which system out of fcc and bcc distorts more due to the interestial carbon atoms? What is atom % of carbon in each type of iron if all interestial sites are filled?
