Given : O is the centre of the circle and from figure ∠AOB = 80° and ∠AOC = 110°.

 

To find :  ∠BAC

Proof :

We have , ∠AOB = 80°  and ∠AOC = 110°.

∴ ∠AOB + ∠AOC + ∠BOC = 360°

[Complete angle]

80° + 100° + ∠BOC = 360°

190° + ∠BOC = 360°

∠BOC = 360° –190°

∠BOC = 170°

Since, the angle subtended by an arc at the centre is double the angle subtended by it at any point on the remaining part of the circle.

∴ ∠BOC = 2∠BAC

170° = 2∠BAC

∠BAC = 170°/2  

∠BAC = 85°

Hence ∠BAC is 85°.
