Solutions:

Since X and 50° form a linear pair.

Hence, X + 50 = 180°

=> X = 180° - 50°

=> X = 130°

Since vertically opposite angles are equal.

Hence, Y = 130°

Clearly, X = Y = 130°

This means that alternate interior angles are equal.

Hence, AB || CD.

➢ √ x + 50 = 180 ( linear pairs)

➢ √ x = 180° - 50 °

➢ √ x = 130

➢ √ y = 130 ( vertically opposite angle )

➢ √ x = √y = 130 ° ( corresponding angles )

➝ Hence, AB|| CD proved
