In Fig 8.118, transversal l intersects two lines m and n, ∠4= 110° and ∠7 = 65°. Is m||n?

M||N =no

EXPLAINATION: FIRST METHOD:-

  1. 4 = 110
  2. 7 = 65
  3. 5 = 65 (vertically opposite angle)
  4. 110+65=175

these are not parallel because in the same side of transversal between the parallels sum of angles is 180.

  • SECOND METHOD :-
  1. 4 = 110
  2. 7 = 65
  3. 110+angle 3= 180( lenear pair)
  4. angle3=70
  5. angle3=angle7(if m||n,as these are corresponding angles.)

angle 3 is not equal to angle 7.

so m is not parallel to n.
