In Fig.
8.24, triangle PQR IS Isosceles with PQ = PR. Lm is parallel to QR with L on PQ and M on PR
Give reasons for each of the following statements.

1) angle Q = angle R
(2) angle PLM = angle Q
(3) angle PML = angle R
(4) angle PLM = angle PML
(5) triangle PLM is isosceles,

Answer:

  1. angle Q is equals to angle r because a triangle pqr is an isosceles triangle where PQ is equals to p r and hence the two angles are equal to the opposite equal sides
  2. angle PLM is equals to angle q because these are the corresponding angles
  3. similarly angle pml is equals to angle are also the corresponding angles
  4. since triangle pqr is an isosceles triangle and and LM is parallel to Q are therefore angle pml is equals to angle pml As these are the opposite angles of two equal sides
  5. since the two angles are equal therefore triangle plms isosceles triangle and hence PL is equals to PM

1. PQ=PR

2. CORESPONDING ANGLE

3. CORESPONDING ANGLE

4. ANGLE Q=ANGLE R

= ANGLE PLM=ANGLE PLM

5. Two angles are equal therefore triangle PLM is isosceles triangle and PL=PM.
