Mark a point as D, next to the point C where y° is mentioned.

From given figure, we have,

In Δ  ABC,

∠ ACD = ∠ CAB + ∠ CBA   (ext. angle)

∠ ACD = x + 2x

∴ ∠ ACD = 3x .......(1)

In Δ OCD,

∠ AOD = ∠ OCD + ∠CDO   (ext. angle)

3y = ∠ OCD + y ........(2)

from (1),

∠ ACD =  ∠ OCD = 3x

substituting the above value in eqn (2), we get,

3y = 3x + y

3y - y = 3x

2y = 3x

y = 3/2 x

Hence, the representation of y in terms of x.
